Using Ring radiators in caraudio?

I'm in the process of molding XT25s into my A-pillars. I tested them at various angles and completely off axis. On axis for ring radiators is the way to go. These tweeters sound great and extend pretty low for 1" tweeters. Great for 2-way systems. They are very detailed and the lower end could almost make it sound like a 3-way system with the output they provide...

Peerless HDS 6.5s (really more like 7s though). The ones that were on buyout at PE for like $32 each. I also have a pair of AA Poly's I picked up so we'll see. And I've taken a few pics along the way but not every step. Still waiting on my amp/processor...

I hope it was these ones pictured. PE had two different buyouts with HDS mids. I guess the ones pictured can be called HDS 'Nomex':

I listened to the XT25 both small and big versions. They sound great on axis, but thats it. I wouldnt use them in the car, You need long PLD's for them IMHO. If you are too close, the sweet spot is way to narrow, so every time you move your head in the car or adjust or seat it sounds completely different, Your top end will suffer the most. If you have a fairly deep dash or plan to use them in the kick go for it. I would absolutely never mount them in the sails or top of pillars. on the plus side you get less reflections, but the tradeoffs arent worth it enough to use.

I switched from xt25's to the alpine tweets and they sound even better IMO. I have experienced what MJ is talking about as mine are glassed in the sail panels, but I'm not that discerning of a listener. I mean you're in a car so wind noise, other vehicles, etc... all provide less then an ideal listening environment anyway...
