using cheap birch vs mdf

Why can't you use it in a smallish box? or do the cavities really cause havoc and there are like 3 kinds of the birch at lowes the baltic the cheap a$$ kill you with splinters type and a mid -price one I wonder which he is talking about

I cant find baltic birch near me. So is lowes 6 ply birch good? Or what //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
It will be fine, but look for something with 11 plys or so. I pretty much refuse to use MDF because of the dust and its health issues.

I prefer to use birch as it's stronger and lighter than mdf, but the low ply high void stuff can be sucky if you are building a sealed box. I would recommend to seal all the edges of the wood-including your driver cutout with glue or fiberglass or something
