Using batteries from a UPS(uninteruptible power Supply)

I happen to work at a sort of computer and networking Chop Shop, and we get alot of nifty things that we just throw away.

The most recent one is a pallet of 12 volt Sealed Acid, unspillable batteries, they are fairly small, I would guess about 9x4x6 I acquired six of them for possible personal use in my car. I thought about installing them in my trunk for additional electrical support. What do yall think of this? Bad plan?

i just didnt know if they should be able to stand up to a constant drain-charge cycle without blowing up or spewing acid all over my equipment.

They'll work real good actually, they do not have the deep cycle ability as say an optima. 6 of them together should give you ample reserve though. We had a UPS go bad at work, turned out the battery was the problem. We connected to an SVR Audio battery and worker great again

I had a UPS battery in my car as the primary for awhile. Worked fine. I drained it a couple of times and it charged back up fine.

come to think about it..

i live in florida, we have the most lightning storms in the US, and consequently(sp).. we have alot of power outages, and my UPS has stayed on and worked good for me charging and un-charging for the past 3 years, i dont know how much more life it has.. but it's been doing well so far.
