Using 8 gauge to run to the front of the car. I hooked the fuse block up but now I am 2' short and only have 10 gauge left, will it be cool to use that?
Generally 8 awg is good for 50-60A assuming typical lengths of wire (15-20'). The short 10 awg won't change things significantly, but it has 40% more resistance than the same length of an 8 awg.
Basically, if you're at or close to the limit of 8 awg already (~50A) it would be wise to stick with 8 awg. If you're only drawing 40A max's and not doing it very often a short piece of 10 awg won't have much effect.
