usb port problem?

Im tryin to upload a pic and a vid but the usb port wont cut on or recognize anything when i put a memory card or a floop disk into it. Dad said somethin about having to click a icon at the bottom that said hardware for it to cut on but there isnt one. Any 1 have a idea that might help?

im pretty sure theres only , its on the front from what i could see there wasnt any on the back

right click my computer, go to manage and then device manager and see if there are any yellow balloons

if so try uninstalling those and then reboot and windows should reinstall the drivers for it on reboot
