usb memory sticks

Hi - first time on; looking for some help please.

I have an Alpine unit installed with usb and ipod leads in the glove box.

I have several memory sticks ; a couple work but most don't including a 16mb recent purchase. Any ideas?

find out what file formats the h/u will receive. you may have song in different formats and some work and some don't

the alpine head unit takes all formats

I've been on to Alpine - they say as long as its formatted on fat 32 it should work.

Well they are and some still don't work

They then said its just pot luck with usb sticks!

make sure your files are not in sub folders, these hu's are not the most sophisticated peices of equptment. they may only operate if the files are not in folders

reformat them.

I take it you have all your different sticks organized in the same way, the folders I mean, they can only be organized in a special way, and at least for USB hard drives, they must comply to some mass storage standard, I don't remember, but the manual is quite clear on what it takes for USB devices to work, so you will be able to weed out some of the problems?
