I've used a US Amps x3 crossover in 2-way mode for 3 or 4 years with my basic subwoofer + component set setup. With this setup I used the low output channel for the subwoofer amp of course, and the mid output channel sends mids and highs to my component amp. Never had a problem, always sounded great.
I recently sold the unit, and the new owner needs to use it in 3-way mode where he would be using the mid output and high output channels separately. When he connects an amp with tweeters to the high output channel it sounds great. When he connects the same amp with mids to the mid out channel there is very little output and the sound is very distorted. If he switches to 2-way mode at that point then the mids sound great but he should lose the high output channel.
Is it possible there is some kind of misconfiguration on the new owner's end, or can I rest assured there is a defect and refund the money + cost to ship back to me? Just doesn't make sense to me the mid channel works great in 2-way mode but craps out in 3-way mode with the high channel working fine.
(this was the best detailed image I could find of the crossover)
