US Acoustics amps...

Zed didn't make all of the US Acoustics....there were certain series that were designed by him.

And yes, the Zed built amps were solid.

Even then the newer non-Zed amps aren't horrible for a budget amplifier.

I was thinking the same earlier when I read La CRX's post but I wasn't absolutely certain.

Thanks for the confirmation as now I don't feel so stupid.

I had a USB-series 4ch (USB-4065 I think?) that while was a great amp for the $63 I paid for it the unit wasn't anything special beyond that.

I would have put it about par with a Profile as now that I recall it struck me odd how similar the connections and layout were to the Profile amps that I owned before it.

I'll wager Zed had nothing to do with that one...

The USA and (I believe) some of the usx series were designed and built by Zed Audio. Check ROE's ampguts and look at say a usa-2300 board. Thats pretty indicative of all Zed Audios work for Us Acoustics. I used to have a 2100 and a 2150, and still have a 2075. Absolutely wonderful amps, great bang for the buck for sure. Like someone else mentioned, even the non Zed Audio amps by them aren't all that bad.

Not looking for anything "entry level". Just wouldn't mind finding an "old School", high quality amp inexpensive.
Thanks for the info.
Though Zed amplifiers were solid amplifiers.....I would still consider the US Acoustics he built to be on the "entry level" side of things. They are not of the same quality as his more renowned amplifiers as they were obviously built for a different price point and target market.

From what Mr. Mantz has stated the US Acoustics were nearly identical to the Boss amplifiers he built.

In fact here is a quote from Mr. Mantz;

"THESE BOSS AMPLIFIERS WERE MADE IN THE USA By Zed Audio. THE POWER SUPPLIES AND AMPLIFIERS ARE THE SAME AS THE USACOUSTICS . SINCE ZED AUDIO DESIGNED AND BUILT THEM THEY ARE OF THE SAME QUALITY AS THE USACOUSTICS. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE PREAMPLIFIER FEATURES AND OF COURSE THE CHASSIS."

So I think if you are looking for something similar to his more beloved designs and not as "entry level" in design....you would be better off looking into his new lineup as AudioJunkies mentioned.

Some US Acoustics amps werent really built like budget models..........

I'd buy the ZED amps...but he doesn't have any Draconia's in stock...and won't for some time. Not sure how you can't just "build more"...lol...but, hey. I was thinking of trying th ALPINE PDX stuff that just came out. I like the chassis' and the stackability.
