i have a dell computer and am interested in upgrading my subwoofer. it already has the 30 W sub, but i'd like to do more. what all do i need?

i know i'll need a plate amp and a sub. i'd like maybe a 150 watt plate amp and i'll need a sub. can i just use a car sub? i have a type r sitting around. is this a good idea?

how would i connect the amp tot he computer? on the back of the sub there is 1 plug that goes in, a green one, and a larger orange plug that goes out to the little speakers.

anyone ever do this with a dell computer?

i'd like to stay under 200 dollars.

any input woul dbe great.

thanks.

You could do what I did and ditch the entire system. dont bother tapping into it. Buy some budget bookshelfs from BestBuy or Circuit city for $75 or so, a budget 5.1 or stereo receiver for maybe $100, get a plate amp off PE for the type-r (i have a box plan for you courtesy of Moe Lester) and all necessary cables and you'll blow any computer system out of the water.

HAHA, yea man...I've been reading up one your build, its friggin' SICK! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Yea, once my crossover gets here I'll post more pics of everything... I need to figure out a way to weight my sub box down though, it starts bouncin off the floor with minimal power. Its kinda excessive in a dorm room considering I have enough power on tap to blow the breakers, but hey, next years dorm setup is gonna be even more insane....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif :up2somet: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif :up2somet: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I'm thinking about going back to the FE127E's for something, but now that I know a semi-local box builder, things are going to get interesting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Not BLH's, but something bigger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

****it Jim, teaser pics or somethin??

I am upgrading mainly, cause I want something big and bad that can be in a dorm room, plus, I'm gonna set it up at a friends house a couple times for a monster party or two for a small fee + free booze. I kinda want to do something with 2 extremis per tower (don't know why...but I just do), or a small line array since I can't fit a full big bad ass one in my dorm. Whatever I do I am going to design all of it (or try anyway).

Speakers are going to be a summer project, I need to get the amp rack finished first and working with the main towers I do have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But another set so I could run the NAD 3020/dbx EQ indepedently would be cool.

If anyones thought my dorm setup this year is kinda excessive, next year is gonna be downright nucking futs. Its gonna take alot of woodworking this summer though, gotta design build the mains, new sub box, rack for my amps that can be fully enclosed and somewhat easily moveable. I may have to discuss ideas for mains w/ thyantyr since he is the master at having excessive audio componets.

Yes, I am a tease.

muhahahhaha

Although if you visit better forums than here, you may get an idea where I'm going.
