upgrading from 2 12 ethos??? not sure what to do or get.

So i have 2 12 DSS ethos in a 3.5 cube net box with 65 sq inches of port area. It is being powered by a Ampere audio 5k at 1 ohm. It does get pretty loud for what it is but im in a suv so i want louder. I love the sound of the ethos and would like a sub similar that can handle more power. Other option would be going to 15s. Not sure if there would be a noticeable difference there. Would going to 2 12 ZV4 off my amp at .5 net a good enough gain?

I have roughly 7 cubes net to work. Right now power is my 5k, but eventually i will get a 8.5k and run it at .5 ohms.

budget would be around 1k. Even if thats finding a couple used sub.

Thought also about adding 1 or 2 more 12's. cant afford 2 but I can do 1 for now.

Build a bigger box. Anything you do will be a side step. Put the money toward the install. 7 gross isn't enough for 2 15s. And 8k is to much for a single 18

DSS calls for 1.5 cubes 40 sq inches port per 12 inch. I have them in a 3.5 so the box is plenty big. The 15" ethos only needs 3.0 cubes net to work with. Ive also thought about sundown zv4 and zv3.

Recone to the 15s. Gonna giver you about 2db gain. No real need to go with any more power. Should be pushing low 150s with 5kw..

I would either three ethos 12s or two zv5 12s. Both would hammer like a mofo

Pushing 150db+ is hard with two 12s in a suv cabin space. 2 12s on 5k should be around 147db On music.

I meant 150 burping. I've seen it done with 3kw. Adding one 12 might give you 1bd. No specs on the z5s..

i did a 145 at 36hz right where I peaked. Not too bad I guess wired to 1 ohm. Think I might go 2 15s. But can 15s be ok in 7.5 net?

My ethos 15s are in 7 net and sound great. They used to be in 6 net and sounded good in that too. No problems

First I would build a larger box. 4.5-5cf. Thats the cheapest fix, 3.5cf seems small. I would understand if you were putting 6-7k to burp them in that size box, I just dont see you getting the performance you should in that size box with that power.

That is what DSS recommends. Just like DC recommends small for their enclosures.
