Upgrading electrical

Hey guys im trying to upgrade my electrical on my truck so i can be ready if i want to add some more subs or accessories. I have a few questions. I will i guess be doing the big 3 upgrade with 4 or 0 gauge wire. Just to clarify i will not be moving any of my stock wires like going to the alternator and battery right? I am just adding a bigger run of wire that connects the 2 right?

Also, right now i have 1 15" AQSD2.5 and my lights kind of dim, hopefully the big 3 will get rid of that. But i want to go ahead and get either a high output alternator or dual alternators. My question is which would be better and why? Since i all ready have the dual battery trays i guess i will be adding dual batteries. What all will i need to do the dual battery install in a 97 GMC k1500 extended cab 5.7l. Im sure i have seen a thread some where but i cant find it. Anyone got the link? I am also looking for links to either the high-output alternator or dual alternator kits. Just want some opinions since i will most likely be running either the hi-out alternator or dual alternators for awhile w/o really needing them i dont want to burn up anything ya know. Thanks a ton yall are always a big help!

Your not gonna need 2 alternators. If you were to replace your battery with an optima, and add another optima youll be fine.

I know a guy who has 96 suburban, and has 2 audiobahn mofos with a 1000 watt amp for each sub, a 4 channel 400 watt amp for speakers, power inverter, double did, xm, a radar, cd changer, HIDs, and all he has is 2 batterys. no light dimming or anything strange

So if i were you id just add the other battery, all you need is some 4 or 0 gauge wire, run the positive from the other bat. to the new bat, and ground the new one, then you can run your amp wiring from either bat +
