Upgrading Alternator....THEN WHAT....>>>>??

I sent my gf to a napa to get muffler bearings for her car once. sounds like you need to do your big three before you do anything.

I have the big 3 done people!!!.. well not the battery, but that doesnt mean SHT unless I have a bigger ALT.. ESP. if its not a deep cycle.. BUT I am doin that right after I get my alt done this week, Got the ALT pulled today.. sending it in on Mon.

THEN i need to get my battery cable extended so I can put a GOOD battery in....seems like there are only 2 on the market that will fit my car.. THENNNNNNNN I will get a battery.... I already have 0 ga. running throught the car

So the Big 3 are: Upgrade wire.. upgrade battery...and what else.

lol, you have the big three done, but not the battery? The battery makes up two of the "Big 3", so you've really only done a "Big 1" so far.

The big three is the Big 3 wires, the Batt (+) to alt, Batt (-) to frame, and the Engine Block to frame/body. Other upgrades that should be done are the alt and battery. Some people call the wires, batt and alt the big 3, but it's not.

ok, thats where i've always been confused, cause that was my idea of the 'Big 3" So I have Battery - to chassis ground... alternator upgrade is in the process right now

why do you have to engine block to frame of body...what does that have to do with a stereo system??

That ground wire completes the electrical system and upgrading it completes the upgrade on the electrical system.

yea but your engine doesnt supply electrical power.....as far as I know

but I guess it does....how does that work?? I dunno, im confused. Can I do it anywhere on the block, or does it have to be specific?

Like obviously the ALT supplies power, so upgrading that wire to the battery makes sence, and the batt to chassis ground makes sence....but i dont get the block to ground

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking that your alt is grounded through the engine block and thats why you need the additional ground to the block. And from what I know it doesn't matter where you ground it, as long as you upgrade the factory ground somewhere. i've never asked this question before, so I've never heard another idea on this.
