I have a olds ciera with all stock sound. I have a sony receiver I can have pretty much for free, I know its not great but should do for now.
The ciera has front 3.5's. I don't really like the prices I'm seeing for just little 3.5's so I'm wondering how just tweeters would do in there place that match whatever component set I decide on for the rear deck and just attenuate them so they blend with the rears. I don't really know if this would work though maybe someone on here has done this before? Even if I do get 3.5's they would probably need a high pass of at least 400hz I'm guessing. What are some good 3.5's?
For the rears the polk MMC6500 component set looks like it would be good to me. Ive been happy with polk's stuff in the past as far as home audio. The more I look the more brands I've not heard of before I find. For the rears I want to spend about $150. No sub woofer for now possibly one later on. Does anyone know of some other comparable or better component sets for around $150? I don't need loads of bass or anything. I'm going for quality over quantity.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
