Ok heres the deal...

My last setup was 12"icon in 2.2cubes @ 32hz (1100rms) in a saturn sl2 (sedan trunk).

Don't get me wrong its a beautiful sub and I love it....but i'm looking for a slight upgrade this time around....but the challenge is i'm looking to spend around same amount of money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I want to try to have the same sound quality but also get louder to keep up with suv's.

Budget: $285 sub(s)

Getting an 05 malibu I'm pretty sure. So fitting a 15" is probably possible.

Enclosure size: 3.2 cubes ported? (Don't have car yet so can't measure)

Power: 1000-1200rms

Music: Korn, Jeezy, Ludacris, Metallica, Deftones, Marylin Manson...basically rock and rap.

I was thinking of MACH5 15 ixl, maw12's (not sure since everything is priced cheaper than the icon), Audioque sd2.5s, or SS RLP, etc...

Basically something that would be the icons bigger cousin lol

I have a RL-P 12" sealed and it sounds beautiful, i can just imagine it ported.

and guess what? it also happens to be for sale! 195 to your door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Used Icon 15 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The Xcon will be going into production, but it will be a little while yet.

I dont think your going to be able to find another 12 in that price range that will get just as loud while still maintaining the same level SQ. I think you should do like Demin said and step up to a 15in Icon.

Sounds good to me...I don't have the funds yet anyways..cant wait //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Rather than spending a bunch of money, why don't you try changing your box design a bit. Raise the tuning if you want more output. Change the way the driver faces to see if there is an improvement.

Best,

Mark
