Update on Audio Technix 80 mil! Pictures, Pricing, and Official Specs Inside!

80 mil is due in stock next week! I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have been playing around with our proto-roll of 80 mil for the past day. There are a few changes we made to the 80 mil that will we will be adding to our next re-order of the 60 mil. The main change is we switched from a 6 mil wax paper to a 3 mil film backing. Switching to the film has made the corrected the adhesive sticking to the wax paper issue. Yesterday during testing I got the deadener as hot as 140 (Hottest I could get the deadener with out putting it in the oven) and the film was still coming off very easy. The old wax paper will not come off if the deadener is any hotter than about 95 degrees. By switching from the wax paper to the film backing we eliminated almost all creases in the deadener (I have not found 1 crease in the proto-roll). I am very impressed with 80 mil and I think everyone who uses it will be as well.

80 mil thick total

7 mil Aluminum

Butyl Adhesive

Pricing:

$3.5 a sq ft + shipping

It will come in 25 sq ft rolls. The price per roll will be $87.99 + shipping.

I am thinking about doing a 1-2 day introductory price on it but we will see.

The wax paper issue on the 60 mil was an issue we wanted to make sure we corrected on the 80 mil. Our next re-order will have the issue fixed on the 60 mil as well. The wax paper on the current 60 mil does just fine if the deadener is under 90 degrees but when it gets over 90 degrees it may start to give you a few issues.

Looks nice! I possibly would have waited to order my roll had I known the 80mil was coming out. But thats ok.

Btw, Audio Technix has awesome customer service from my experience.. Was trying to order a roll last night and was having some issues with the site check out. PM'd Cthedinger and got a reply within minutes. Minutes later I had a roll ordered and even a tracking number for my package! Look forward to recieving it.. Thanks again!

Thats fine. We have acoustical test results that show our 60 mil preforms as well as Second Skin Damp. Our 80 mil will hopefully be comparable to Second Skin Damp Pro.

Well good for you. Why don't ya buy a roll and see for yourself that it isn't roofing material. Report back here with what you think of it after actually seeing it and using it, rather than chirping an opinion of something you have only seen in a picture.

Looks like all the other deadeners to me... yet the price is much better than most I've seen with the same thickness etc..
