No, but with good algorithms it looks **** good as long as you have good source material.

I actually have the POS Phillips player in a room and it isn't all that bad.

I have one of those cheap wal mart up converters and after around 2 months of use, you would have to press the eject button 10 times just to get the dam thing to open, replaced it with on of the toshiba HD dvds that I got for $98 and haven't looked back.
