Unsure on which ohm DVC subs to purchase

Sorry I know this is a n00b question but Im have a Alpine PDX 1.1000 amp which is rated for 1000rms at both 2ohm and 4ohm (although I presume 2ohm still has more power). Anyhow Im looking to power two Alpine Type R 12s. I can get in a dual 2ohm config or dual 4ohm. It seems that I can wire both pairs to do 2ohm or 4ohm, so what Im wondering is if it really matters which I purchase?

Is the way it is wired from the amp to sub make any sort of difference in quality or durability?

Im using the diagrams at Crutchfield as reference for wiring methods

Thanks all

If you have a preference, buy the same pair of subs. Let me explain:

If you want to run it @ 4 ohms, buy the 4 ohm DVC subwoofers.

If you want to run it @ 2 ohms, buy the 2 ohm DVC subwoofers.

However, since it really doesn't make a difference in this case, I agree with Blaze - get a good deal and go for it.

Ok thanks guys. Let me ask. Which is more popular, particularly for single sub setups? Figure if the day comes I need to resell I would have better luck. Also, generally speaking, if an amp says its rating for the same power at both 2ohm and 4ohm, would you feel confident to run at 4ohm?

Thanks

I was say DVC 2ohm that way if you want you could upgrade to a 1ohm stable amp and get a little more power output (I used to run my Type R at like 700-800rms on my MRX-M100)

Yes I would feel confident. 4 ohms is technically easier on the electrical than 2 ohms.

If it were me doing a single sub setup, I'd get a D4 and wire to 2 ohms. I like to stay at 2 ohms or higher throughout my system though

If the amp puts out the same power at either ohm load, the current draw would be the same.

OP for single setup, I would just get a DVC2 ohm sub and find an amp that does it's power at 1 ohm. Much easier and cheaper to find an amp that does power at 1 ohm than 2 ohms.

so from the sounds of it, assuming price is the same, I should get two 2ohm DVC subs. I can still run this at 2ohms to my amp, and if I ever sell them, together or separate, they can be run at 1ohm or 2ohm which is more commonly used.

Sound about right?

Thanks!

It also lowers the amps efficiency and raises the current draw.
