Unique Auto - Half A** work?

i use the armor all gel on my dash and shit stays shiny for weeks, as well as the extreme tire shine..... there is a difference between armor al cleaner, protectant, tire shine. i would probably agree that if you only used the cleaner that over time it would dry out. but id say that is probably the case with all cleaners. its the dressing you put on after the cleaner that keeps it from drying out.......

and on the unique topic. id hate to think they got so rich and famous by doing shotty work all the time. if you watch cribs they had alot of those rich clients before the tv show happened. and would most of those clients keep going to them if they sucked?

when any product is on top of its game there is always that group of haters out there that want to call them out.....

All opinions set aside. They are one of the first 2 or 3 car audio shops to be "DOIN' IT" on tv and blowing up. They really are doing something special for our industry...even though most of us that know what we are looking at...myself included...haven't been overly impressed with what they have turned out...but we have to remember that they are also trying to cater to a demographic that could possibly afford what they are doing....can relate....and get interested and even fired up about it...and possibly want even more than what they see.... if its untouchable...its not real....and perception is reality. It is an entertaining show for the most part...

The Leader that isn't worth shooting at..... isn't worth keeping around either.

Lots of people seem to be doing lots of shooting at them....nahhhh mean?

I think they need to have a Car Audio Channel....the we can really focus on how cool we really are...and what is really out there and what our knowledge is capable of creating and really how fun all this is.....and that its not Fast and bi-curious either.

hey that could be a fun spectator show //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I don't think it's so much they do shitty work or are uncapable of doing good work, I think it's more their time frames they get... anyone who has actually worked in a real shop knows what I'm talking about, you come down to the deadline and there is still alot of shit that needs to be done.

They had to have been good at one time to get the show... and most of his main installers have been with him for awhile...

just my two cents.

my problem with them is they do nothing CUSTOM. Yea maybe a fiberglass box or redo the interior. All they do is send it to someone else to paint, redo the interior with 8 tv screens and add some 20's. Nothing they do is custom work. Yea they may have some good interior guys but to me a custom ride ahs some sort of adjustable suspension, frame mods, body mods, different seats (not stock recovered) etc. But look at their customers, they are all hood rat rappers and football players. So the owner is smart, he pays people beans and charges $10K (probably more) for $2k worth of work, they know no better.

I HAVE A DYNOMAX EXHAUST. i like it, it sounds decent and will sound better when i go to true duals. o and my is bolted up with the clamps, no leaks. as long as it doesnt leak it is fine to bolt it up.

Yeah, there was a thread about the F650, and Unique Auto Sports. The only things I saw wrong with the F650 was the T.V. was blocked by half of the cabinet that it retracted into (extremely shitty job), and they had 1x4's showing instead of covering them like they should have been.

You forgot the part about holding the mids in with duct tape.

id like to see the proof that armor all dries out your dash/interior. I have seen a lot of speculation, opinion, etc. on this, but absolutely no proof. So did someone you know tell you that? Because if armor-all did in fact do that, i imagine that they would either be out of business by now, or would have changed their products.

I work at a car dealership, numerous people have brought their cars back for cracks in the dash, we ask them what they clean it with and EVERY time they say Armor All. I wouldnt use ANY of their products anywhere on my vehicles. Its mostly silicone, just so it shines.

Wouldn't a lot of that have to do with prep work to the dash? What they used to clean before, or where they park? A lot of sun hitting the dash?

I see people use ****ing windex on the entirity of their interior without a problem. *shrug*.

Who says Armor All dries out plastic? I don't see any chemists here.

Plastic cracks because the plasticizers evaporate:

"Plasticizers for plastics are additive, most commonly phthalates, that give hard plastics like PVC the desired flexibility and durability. They are often based on esters of polycarboxylic acids with linear or branched aliphatic alcohols of moderate chain length. Plasticizers work by embedding themselves between the chains of polymers, spacing them apart (increasing of the "free volume"), and thus significantly lowering the glass transition temperature for the plastic and making it softer. For plastics such as PVC, the more plasticiser added, the lower its cold flex temperature will be. This means that it will be more flexible, though its strength and hardness will decrease as a result of it. Some plasticizers evaporate and tend to concentrate in an enclosed space; the "new car smell" is caused mostly by plasticizers evaporating from the car interior."

The ingredients of Armor All from the MSDS:

Silicone

Sorbitol

Water

http://www.setonresourcecenter.com/msds/docs/wcd00006/wcd0066c.htm

Silicone:

"Silicones (more accurately called polymerized siloxanes or polysiloxanes) are mixed inorganic-organic polymers with the chemical formula [R2SiO]n, where R = organic groups such as methyl, ethyl, and phenyl. "

Funny, most plasticizers end in "ethyl"

So....if you are right....adding a protective coating of plasticizers to something made of plasticizers will cause it to lose plasticizers. Doesn't make much sense to me.
