Unemployment

Well I figured out of the 1200 people that are usually active at any given time on this OPEN DISCUSSION section of a car audio forum, that somebody may be able to answer my question quicker or has been in the same situation and could shed some light on it, but instead I get cursed out and called names for no reason.

I am just as lazy as most of the lazy fucks

on this website are and figured I would save some clicks and reading by posting to a mass audience hoping some one has been there done that.

You should stop figuring. You're not very good at it.

Yes,trusting 1200 people that don't know specifically about your situation and laws in your state is a lot quicker then going to the horses mouth.

To show I am a good sport and because you are to lazy, I have a link for you to read.

WAIT! That's not all I will quote what I feel pertains to you!

What the law says: This issue is covered by Section 29(1)(a) of the Michigan Employment Security Act. The Act provides that if a worker quits a job without having a good cause “attributable to the employer” (that is, the worker quits and the employer is not at fault for the quit), then the worker will be “disqualified” from receiving
Doesn't sound good for you my friend.

Q Can a person draw UI if they quit?
A Assuming the claimant has sufficient wage credits to establish a claim, he or she

may be qualified to receive benefits if they voluntarily left their employment with

good cause attributable to the employment and there are no other eligibility

issues present.

there I answered my own question thanks to your crude bickering. You may now delete this thread.

Stupid Fuck

I don't think the state will think that was a good reason, but it never hurts to apply anyway. Basically you quit and moved on your own accord and not because you had no choice. At least that is how I see them seeing it.

Well from what I am gathering, the unemployment office already told me that I was eligible for the benefits, but it laid in the hands of my previous employer, as stated in my first post. My ex-manager told me that he would do it for me, but he does not want to pay in.

The original question stated in my first post was just on how unemployment works, not if I am eligible. I did not know if the money always comes from the previous employer, or if it always came from the govt. From what I can tell if you quit, then if the previous employer thinks you quit for a good reason then he may grant you the benefits, which he will be paying part off, but if he contests it, then you have six weeks from the date you quit to apply and you will more than likely be accepted, unless you turned down job offers, then the money comes from the govt. Which the unemployment office usually tries to set you up with a job.

According to your link you apply, within those 6 weeks but you still need a satisfactory reason. Something that you basically had no control over. Like I saidd though, you would be stupid not to apply and see.

As the nice gentleman has pointed out in this thread for you, you need to call you states UC office.

Well I think nobody hiring within a 50 mile radius stands for good enough reason for unemployment as far as the 6 weeks go.
They will say you didn't have to quit and move in the first place. Your wifes school is not reason to them. I'm telling you they will more than likely be strict on reasons, otherwise there is too much room to take advantage of it. On the other hand they could be so **** busy with all the filings going on that someone doesn't bother with due diligence. I know I wouldn't buy your excuse as valid.

Well we will just have to wait and see. I know for a fact that I can get it after the six weeks, but I was just hoping for it sooner because I really need the money.

If you go to the unemployment office, say you have been out of work six weeks, they look up the local job postings, and give you the list, if there is any, in my case, there is none. I have been there already for job postings. That qualifies you for unemployment iam sure.

I have been on unemployment a few times. That does NOT qualify you in any state I have lived in. Especially if you quit and move to that location of your own accord. I don;t think you are understanding something. I think they said you can apply after 6 weeks, not that you would recieve without a doubt in 6 weeks. It has to go through screening first where they determine if your eligible. I don't see how anyone would consider your case, one that you couldn't avoid.

Asyou say, we shall see.
