well, not as much power is there to cause said heat.I'm no expert on this but I think under powering a sub could cause potential problems. Due to a higher rms rating I would think the cooling would be less than nominal because the cone isn't moving as much with less power applied. Thus wouldn't that mean the coils are getting hot and not cooling efficiently due to lack of excursion?
If your sending a clean waveform to the driver you should have no problems.is it bad? or only when clipping is involved? ie givin' a fi q 700 watts.
