Looking for a purely SQ oriented 10" sub and amp combo to go in a off-the-shelf .5 - 1.0 ft^3 sealed box. Budget is $400 for sub, amp, and box, prolly run at 4 ohms.

Currently liking the Audioque AQ750 --$200 / 300Wrms at 4 ohms-- as the amp though other recommendations in the $200 range are welcome and box will be ~$60.

For the sub, some research has lead me to:

ID10 V3 D2 $140

Diamond Audio D310 $110

Audioque SDC2.5 $130

SSA Dcon $115

Which of the above or am I missing a clear winner? Thanks!

If you are set on getting the AQ why run at 4 ohm? Just get a better sub to take the amp and run 1 ohm sealed. Then when you want to upgrade buy/build a ported enclosure.
I was under the impression that higher impedance yields higher SQ?? Not sure I'll ever want to go bigger/ported, just want a nice tight little package that can keep up with the electronica I've recently been listening to.

Thanks for the replies so far!

The ID woofer is a steal at its price. Sounds just as good as the IDQ.

Pick up an old Rockford Punch amp (the old one) off of eBay for $100 and you're around $250. Figure a box & amp wiring kit will set you back another $100 and you have $50 leeway to either find a bar with $1 You-Call-Its or you can buy a better box/amp/whatever.

Building a good sounding system on the cheap isn't that difficult...if you go old school that is.

if you want stricktly sq i have a good condition old school Rockford Fosgate audiophile 12" woofer was playing with it ealier gets decently loud as well, sq wise it compares to my w6s.

As for an amp, what does your system consist of currently? Is it stock? What hu and amps are you using, if any?
Currently the system is the stock 9-speaker (Saab 9-5 wagon) AS3 "Prestige" system composed of Pioneer and Harmon Kardon parts. Not bad, but could use a refresh and some more kick. Have some Infinity Kappa 32.9cf's that I'll be throwing into the front speaker positions soon.

Some good reviews on this sub; noted, thanks!

Any series or model numbers I should look for if I start looking into the old Rockford amps?
