use the resistor to connect the terminals then, the worst that can happen is it will blow the resistor...

That works too. Hook it up, leave it for awhile. Check with a DMM if you have one to make sure it's discharged.

to be honest the fastest way is just to take a wire and stick it between the 2 and let it drain, it will drain really fast, not hours like the others take

I was lucky enough to get closer when he said what he was going to do. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I still jumped. It's loud as hell.
