You blew the jl to pieces. User error is all I can say. Worst sub you ever experienced, did you even put them in an actuall box?
Lets get something straight here. I dont do anything half assed. I built a box to thier specs.
Secondly...
The reson why this subwoofer licked my hairy nuts, is because the FOAM surround cracked all the way around the surround, and eventually right through. I have the basket at home still, which Ive ripped the cone right out of... WHICH I WOULD NOT DO IF THIS WAS A DECENT SUB. I could only get an exchange on the same woofer, so instead ive decided it would make a better CLOCK than a subwoofer.
Pics to follow.
This sub was a peice of shit 100%
I put this in thier SPEC'D Sealed, and Ported. The sealed sucked so much arse, that I HAD to try the ported... which was a little better, but still ended up deteriorating.
Defective, or whatever, it still passed thier quality control to get on a retail shelf. I paid 4x more than that of the Type-R, and got 1/4 of the performance, and longevity (Time will tell with the Type-R)
As someone mentioned below this is my person experience. Ive owned JL in the past, w6, w3v2's, which never had a problem.
None the less, the TYPE-R owned them all in terms of performance, and output.
Danka.
