Type R 12" Testimony

Well, after several days of building an enclosure for 2 Type-R 12" Subs, on a MRD-M1005 of thier own wired into 2ohms... I had installed the single amp, and sub, just so I could hear the sucker, and see if all the Hype was TRUE.

This is what I found.

First I will say that I had made ANOTHER box, for a single Type R. That should say something in itself, as I am a bass hungry addict //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I wired up the amp and sub, turned it on.

HOLY CRAP!

This thing is in a single ported 2.3cuft (after port, and sub displacement) box... Tuned to 30hz.

The amp is pushing 1000W RMS as per stats of the amp, but some say its pushing about 800W RMS or so... Either way, this amp kicks ***, all digital controls for gain, bass eq, etc... dual fans. I listened to the sub at full blast for nearly 2hrs, and no sign of overheating, no cap or anything installed, running on 4awg wire.

Now onto the sub!

This sub is absolutely without a doubt the best sounding subwoofer I have ever owned... I have the following subwoofers, or had the following subs in the recent past...

RF T112D4 - 12" RF T1.

JL Audio 10W6v2 - I blew this sub to peices with a 800W MTX 801d within 2 months... This was the worst sub that ive ever experienced, no matter what anyone tells me.

RF Punch HX2's (2) - These were ok, but very dirty sounding.

Anyways...

The SQ coming from the Type R in this enclosure is amazing... the bass is clean, yet loud and fills the entire cab of the truck... It shakes the living hell out of everything in sight, the roof flexes, the windows flex from the exterior... and all the meanwhile sounding absolubtly amazing.

There is no loss of SQ as the volume is increased. It is very musical and sounds excellent in all types of music ive played on it so far... Techno, Rap, Metal, Rock... the whole works.

I dont know what else to say, but as I mentioned above, this is the best sub woofer ive ever owned, and will not purchase another until this one is either stolen, or broken down due to excessive playing at loud volumes, but this doesnt seem to be an option @ 2x the rated wattage of the woofer.

Do yourself a favor, buy this sub, and experience what true music sounds like!

Everything you hear in regards to the Type R, SQL, SPL, SQ is true. This is not some fluke that someone made some super special box that made it sound this way...

Man, its just amazing, my quest for clean loud bass has come to an end!

I think about the hundreds of dollars spend on previous woofers, and wonder how a woofer at the price tag of $100 can sound this much better. Ive heard talk that the Type X is even better, but I tell you I have no urge to even hear it, as this one pleases my senses in every way.

Peace!

your amp is pusing about 650w when wired to 2 ohm due to impedance rise, wired to 1ohm you wouldve seen 800+, im glad you like your subs though, the type-r's were a great choice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, I cant argue the RMS wattage of that amp, because I just dont know.. But for reference, if people are wanting to spend about 400-500 for a nice sub, and amp combo, these 2 are great together.

I dont see how more power could make it be any better than it sounds now.

I mean, its amazing, I still think about it when I am not listening to it thinking, for god sakes! Why didnt I do this long ago..

Everytime I listen to it, its like an Audio Orgasm! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well it is very accurate at 4ohm which is about where your at w/ impedance rise so thats why i said 650

I'm almost thinking about stopping with the car sub box I'm making for my two Type R 12s (that I have yet to hear cuz I never got the box done) and putting them in a home audio enclosure.

Reason is, I've spent 120 dollars on gas since Thursday morning. Yes, it's Monday morning. I think it's time to invest in a nice bicycle. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Glad to hear you like them! I'll have to see what my choices are within the next few days...

You blew the jl to pieces. User error is all I can say. Worst sub you ever experienced, did you even put them in an actuall box?

It's his own personal opinion formed from his own personal experience ... shut the **** up and deal with it.

alpine type r is my fav sub ive ever had too....kicks *** for the money
I like it already and they've been in the box they were shipped in for the past 2 weeks. It's just a shame, I wish I had another option to use them, because I might be buying a motorcycle soon to cope with these f*cking gas prices. Can't exactly put a pair of 12 inch subs on a bike... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

where do u live? not hardly much to complain on gas if u dont live down south in MS AL or LA or TX cuz thats what been hurt the worst with the gas problem. nd texas is people that were evacuated from LA ...none of those laces have gas hardly. we sit in line 3-4 hours when we need it in my town (mississippi). do ur self a favor and buy a MOUNTAIN BIKE. one thats like, 400-500 bucks that you can ride a long distance. it will save u money in 3 weeks as u claim what u spend on gas. dont buy a motocycle. 30-40 mpg, small tank....filling up quicker, cuz the smaller tank.

yes i am ordering my r as we speek its supposed to be in by wed or thurs, and my box is made by spkrman, that is 2.3 cubic feet ported i got the 20hm sub that will be getting 900w rms at it
