For my quick comment to Squeak, thank you for coming in and recognizing some of the idiotic insults that some people (helotaxi) have dished out. I am not here to preach a certain brand, nor say that a brand is superior. I gave my opinion about what brands that I thought would do well in my book as far as SPL was concerned. Keep in mind (Mr. Helo) that opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one. Yours was obviously not for the thread that we were talking about unless you have the holy grail of sub that will beat all others, no matter what.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif No one company has the best of everything, that is why people have different mids & highs, different subs, and different amps. It is about what our ears like best. Some people don't have the chance or privilege to hear some of the equipment that we get to listen to, that is why they read forums like these. Don't badmouth without backing your opinion up, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/typing.gif.fd7c44a94b6ea7a328969e3ae0e010f7.gif We don't sit on the computer all day and insult people. We try and give our experiences, or opinions based on what we have heard, and done. We don't chuckle and make smart A#% comments about people. Anyways enough about you. I have to answer a question to BMW Sidewayz. I have heard these speakers powered by a JL 300/2 amplifier. Focal Access 165A1 components, Focal 165V1 or 165V2's (not sure), Polk SR6500 Reference series, JL XR, and ZR component 6.5 inch components, and the JBL GTi 608 series, which is IMO a concert-in-your-car component set. You can put up to 400-600 watts RMS to these and open your doors in your vehicle for best results. I heard these and the JL amp wasn't even making these components sweat. JBL is one of the best known companies in the world for there loudspeakers, and there concert speakers for some of the most well known artists that we hear today in concert. The only thing that I noticed IMO about the GTi components is that they didn't have enough power to push them to their potential where they should have been listened to. I only heard them on 150 watts RMS. I was told that if I wanted sound quality then those weren't for me (the salesman's opinion) After listening to the others like the JL ZR, and the Polk, and then switching to the Focal entry level Access speakers I felt IMO that with the music that I listened to, the Focal Access 6.5 inch components did the best overall. I think this was all because of the efficiency of the Focal compared to the other brands which were rated for 2-4 times the power rating that the Focals were. I listened to my favorite tracks with my stock radio system and picked the best songs. Then I went in the store to listen to them on the board, (which I know still isn't a fair game comparison because of each vehicles dimensions and acoustics. Each vehicle has a different phase point, a different distance from the speakers, and a different off-axis response. So I cannot tell you which one would be the best. But for the hour of listening in that sound room with the $270 Focal components vs the $400-$800 components, I was most pleased with the Focals efficiency at 150 watts RMS per channel, (forget the actual rating they give you, most companies underrate their components for a reason) They seemed to be the brightest, and seemed to be the only components to play the complex material that I dished out at them without distorting, or breaking up at high volumes. I am still going to buy the Focal 165K2P upgraded series which is also argueably, one of the best component sets under $1000. To me I love them, I actually have two sets of the Focal TN 52 tweeters, and a set of the Focal 165K2P upgraded passive crossovers which I may dump, in place of the JL 24dB/octave active crossovers. I am working on getting a set of the mid-range speakers to complete the set, but am in no hurry. My whole point is that you need to realize that people will pick mids & highs like they pick their cars. They will choose what they want. They will also explain why they picked what they chose. In the end it all comes down to proper installation, proper power, and proper choices. It can be easy for some but a quest for others. Some people like to hear different speakers in their car because they can afford it and they want to hear the difference. Others save for 6 months to get the set they loved when they heard them, and by the time they get to buy them a newer set has come out by the same company that is better, and has more technology. Some brands defy the years and maintain there quality, even after years of having the same model out vs other brand new models. Kind of sounds like certain car models doesn't it. Anyways, I'm sorry for talking for so long, but helotaxi got under my skin. I have just came back from my 4th ASE test, and am supposed to go for a 5th on the 10th, but may skip it. I don't think I am ready for it. My heart is still and always with car audio. My dad told me over 12 years ago that it was just a fad and it would disappear. He said working for a stereo shop would get me nowhere. He was wrong....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I now work on new cars all day long, and get to do my hobby/passion on the side. I hope to one day be able to talk to you guys at the end of a business computer, and have my own side shop, but still maintain my regular job. Cliff's notes:

No one cares.

umm why couldnt you just leave it be? why did you feel the need to start a NEW train wreck thread? im sure helo does not care a bit about this (and had probably already forgot/moved on about it)... nice to see he got to you on a personal level, though, kinda funny

I'm a fan of JL Audio, 'tard. I do however know that they are not and never will be serious SPL subs. That was the long, short, total of my comment. If that makes you all butthurt, perhaps you need to lighten up a lot. If you took my comment as an insult, again perhaps you need to lighten up a LOT. It's going to be difficult to get through life if you look at everything said and try to find the personal slight in it.

I'm on this forum to help people out. Suggesting JL Audio for SPL is not helping people out and is pretty funny. I used the funny part to point out that it wasn't a good suggestion. JL doesn't sponser a SPL team. They don't build loud demp vehicles. No serious SPL competitor uses JL audio subs. If you want to call those facts opinion and say that they stink, go right ahead. You'll be laughed right out of here. You're on that road already.

That's all anyone needs to read. I said that in the original thread, and I'm x2'ing it here.

Once again:

IMO, if you're buying a w7 to be "loud" you're buying it for the wrong reasons.
Now, check my sig for the gear I'm running. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
