Two subs, mono amp or 2 channel

Im thinking of running two 8' subs instead of 1 10' or 12' sub. My question is do I need a mono or 2 channel amp. Simple question, but I am new at this. Thanks.

Ok, so my next question...if I run a mono amp to two subs how is it wired?, and how do you distribute the power the subs evenly? Can two 4ohm subs we wired to 2ohms???

is your amp 2 ohm stable or is it 4ohm stable or your sub dual voice coils or single v/coils
