Got 'Roids?
im building a 2.5 cubic foot box, and home depot didn't have any 6'' pvc pipe. i got some 4'' which was the biggest diameter they had, and was wondering if i would need two 4'' aero's for enough port area. i know you can get away with smaller port area by using the aero's, but not how much. any input?

im gonna use the pvc, in hopes i can get the port area i need, cause in regular slot ports i need to much port area and my trunk isnt so forgiving on fitting in big boxes. just wondering if theyd be good soundwise, and would a 34 hz tuning still grab the lows pretty good? i like the low deep bass (40-30hz), and i dont want to have it play under tuning.

ok, i got half of the box built, the sides and the bottom, im leaving the top open for now.

my question is about the aeroports, does psp's port calculator account for the 3/4'' of mdf the aero will sit in? or do i calculate it? or does it not make a difference?

edit: will have pics tomorrow, i need to buy another sheet just to cut the top plate out lol. wish i had a router or something too.

Will the port be attached to the wall on the inside? Or mounted inside the hole? I'd mount it inside the hole, but its fine to mount it on the inside wall

yes if its on the inside wall you have to account for the extra .75in

its gonna be sitting flush with the outside of the box, im not using the psp aeros, just pvc.

and will a 34hz tuning still make the lows pretty nice?

define 'lows', it varies depending on sub and enclosure alignments etc, but it should be decently loud down to like 28-30hz

Because it won't hit any lows less than 34 hz will it?
yes, it begins to lose cone damping once you go below the tuning frequency, but that doesn't mean all output is all of a sudden lost...it'll roll off and like i said should in general still have decent output down to ~28, but it depends
