Just because im curious, what setup would give you more loudness and which would give you a better overall sound.

Lets use the example of 2-50 watt rms speakers at 4 ohms a piece vs one 100 watt rms speaker at 4 ohms, being of the same size and composition of materials

Probably the 2 speakers, as you add power to 1 speaker, you start to run into power compression. This is assuming identical type enclosures... i.e. all running in .75 sealed per driver

There is no strait forward answer to this question..

but hypothetically, a single driver with 2x the power handeling and 1.41x the linear stroke would yield the same results as two lesser drivers with the same cone area..

I'm not sure I'm understanding the question.

Since I have a type R on 500 watts, is evryone saying 2 of my Rs on the same amp would be better in all respects?

depends. 2 wil cost more $, take up more room and add more weight

is that better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
