Tweeters vs Componets

I have a 6x9 type R in my door, (due to the location the tweeters are aimed at my hips) and it could use a little bit more highs. I see two options, and maybe someone here has experience. I can either A buy a pair of tweeters like the Alpine SPR-10TW, or I can buy a pair of components like the SPR-60C, ghetto mount the woofer in the center console next to the seat, and mount the tweeters in the dash.

Anybody have any ideas or recomendations?

If you want to add a tweeter, you'll need to low pass the mids in the doors or else two tweeters will overlap and cause things to be very harsh. You'll need proper processing in forms of active crossovers. A good SQ class head unit or DSP would do wonders for this.

Secondly, these perform and sound waay better than type R tweeters. Tymphany NE25VTS-04 1" Silk Dome Tweeter. Type R tweeters lack a lot of detail and is not a flat and smooth response.

What you want, you'll want the soundstage up higher and the tweets placed up higher. Coaxials have very poor soundstage performance.

So my best option would be to toss the 6x9s, put a 6.5 component in the door, and the tweeter that came with it in the dash or maybe the pillar, hook up the crossover, and then get a sub?

I'd start off with proper processing. Like an active head unit or a cheap digital sound processor or so, then you can cross over things properly and get this show going. Processing makes all the difference. With that in, all you need are a new pair of tweeters, you can basically filter out the alpine tweeters.

What "Cheap digital processor" would be better than the built in 9 channel eq with time delay? The only processor I should need would be an extra crossover if that, unless I'm mistaken?

active network capabilties or the ability to bandpass crossover anywhere from 20hz to 20000hz with slope selction between -6db to -48 db. You can throw a random crossover on them but it will not be perfect because most do not tell you the crossover point and the slope is usually weak or not the proper type.

This is is actually better than any head unit out there tuning capabilities wise except the pioneer stage 4 99prs http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOUNDSTREAM-HARMONY-CAR-AUDIO-31-BAND-DIGITAL-SOUND-PROCESSOR-CIRRUS-LOGIC-/281767412100

You can sell the type R and get a set of components if you are lazy though. Just two different ways to go about this.

Better until it dumps all the saved data and starts hissing.

havent had a single problem with mine lol

and jeff how the hell do you mess up the remote wire? I literally cut back, heat shrinked and taped up all the excess of the huge pita harness.

what dont people understand about 3 simple wires..

On those diyma posts, they didnt used a relay (for everything) or the remote out of the dsp instead they had it all together and it messed stuff up.
