Got a set of the Alpine SPX Pro tweets from Pacparts the other week and finally gave them a listen. Rather impressive sounding and better output off axis vs the Vifa's I have now. Also hard to pass up for $45 shipped.
Decided it was time to try my hand at fiberglassing. Originally was going to do the fleece/resin routine, but ended up using the pre-mixed glass and just molding it to the shape I wanted. After that was sanded down I slapped on a coat of some off brand "gold" body filler and it sanded down very easily using a "mouse" sander.
Tweeters snugly fit into 1 1/2" PVC, so once I got the right angles for them I hot glued them in place and went to town. Technique was much like frosting cupcakes if you've ever done that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Only got a few pics of the first one. Will pick up some spot putty tomorrow for a couple of pinholes I noticed after getting a few coats of primer on. Plan to finish them off in a light textured satin black as that's pretty much what the factory look was.
Not bad for a fiberglass noobie...
