Tweeter Mounting?

My 2001 Forester has a spot where it looks like a tweeter would go but there is just a couple wires behind it attached to a black thing. Can anyone tell me what these wires do? Can I remove them or relocate them to put my tweeters there? Also, is this spot deep enough for a tweeter? I plan on putting in DLS MS6 comps or CDT Ef-61's.

Tweeters aren't deep at all. Shouldn't have a problem fitting a tweet in there if you wanted. Though, that honestly is a pretty poor location IMHO.

Well those wires are either for a speaker that did NOT come with your car from the factory OR it is for some other option your car did NOT come with.

Either way I agree with squeak that that is a bad location for tweeters and would recommend against it.

I had my tweets in the stock door location. Not the best location granted but it was decent if you want to keep everything 100% stock looking.

Looks like there is plenty of room there.
