Tweeter making a very slight crackling sound....causes?

Are you sure it's a crackling sound, or is it a hiss like all the words that have an "S" in them blend together?
D@mn, I hate describing stuff on the internet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's really hard to describe without giving you guys a listen....it's not a hissing sound, it's more of like a very light crackling sound, like something is rattling very softly.

I know, I know....still clear as mud. LOL

But it's only coming out of ONE tweeter, and it's very faint, and I don't really notice it much at all on accoustic tracks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Have you check all the wiring? Could be as simple as something with a loose connection.

LOL Nope, I've instantly (and naturally) thought it would be something worse/,ore involved than that. Thanks for reminding me that it very well could be something super easy to fix. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It could also be digital distortion (clipping) on the recoding itself.

I have a few CDs that have this issue. Sometime distortion slips through the mastering phase of recoding without anyone noticing (or caring).

If you hear the sound in the same spot of a song on the same CD, then it could be actual clipping on the recording itself.

If the sound is random and happens on a few different CDs, then it is probably something else.

I was think sibilance, but it may just be a tweet on it's way out.
That's not the desired effect....lol.

Is there a way a car audio shop can test a tweet by itself to see if it's damaged or going out?

UPDATE!

After taking off the tweeter mounts and adjusting the wiring, it seems to have resolved the issue. Something must've been loose somewhere, but now there's no more weird crackling sounds. W00T!!
