tweeter difference

Can someone explain the difference in tweeters. I see some are made of metal and some are made of silk. What would be the difference and for what type of music.

best thing would be to find some locally, and listen to them urself. u can read reviews and ask people's opinions, but its ur ears that need to judge it. personally i like silk. a lil smoother and not too bright

its commonly said metal tweeters are more detailed but can sound bright and sometimes harsh while silk tweeters are more laid back

this is too generic of a statememt tho cause there can be both good and bad drivers made reguardless of materials... basically it comes down to quality of the driver and tuning/installation.

Indeed.

People like to make generalizations based on the dome material on tweeters.....but it really isn't that simple. Performance is going to come down to the specific design differences of the tweeters you are looking to compare.
