Turning off the Ignition before in Park???

I've found this statement on several informative websites that provide tips on saving and improving gas mileage:

"Turn off the car before putting it in park - Especially if you've auto-stopped when you pull into the parking space. This will let you turn off the car without having it kick in the gas engine again. If you put the car in park first, the gas engine will come on before you shut off the car. Every little drop helps!"

I can't find the exact link I found it on, but here is another one similar to what I had found. http://joefuture.com/blogs/joefuture/pages/Honda-Civic-Hybrid-Hypermiling-Tips.aspx

Just wondering if anybody does this. I know it's a bunch easier to put in park and take the keys out since it's only 2 steps as opposed to shutting the car off, putting in park, then taking keys out...which is 3 steps.

So this is for hybrids only, so poasting it on here only benefits people with hybrids. Thanks......
No, not for hybrids. Alot of the information and additional info pertains to hybrids, but I found this originally on a non-hybrid site. Let me see if I can find it again.

i dont get it? why worry about saving a penny or two a day? sickens me when people do this kinda sshit. just quit driving.....piiisss.
Because some people actually want to save money, because over a short period it may not be much, but over a long period savings accumulate to great savings. I'm not speaking specifically for this example, just in general.

That statement makes the entire post about hybrids......does not pertain to everyone else

As mentioned, I had found it ORIGINALLY on a NON hybrid site. Just looking to see if anyone does it and if they notice anything.

Sorta like letting the vehicle idle for long periods. I used to wait about a minute or two for my car to warm up. Now, I'll wait about 30 seconds and take off and I have noticed a big difference.

only differance is the engine will idle at about 800 RPM instead of about 950-1100 RPM.. not a huge differance. This also only works on auto's. Us who drive manuals, it doesnt matter.
