I doubt people who put hundreds of pounds of massive car audio in their cars are sweating that .0001 gallon..

Idling higher doesn't mean more gas is used. There is less friction/stress on the engine in park but I believe it uses the same amount. Just because RPMs go up doesn't mean that more gas is used necessarily.
If you turned your vehicle off b4 it was in park, you would save the .5 seconds worth of gas it takes you to put in park.

engines generally idle higher in park. Thus turning it off in drive keeps the RPM's lower, and as a result saves .000001 gallons. Big save.

Because some people actually want to save money, because over a short period it may not be much, but over a long period savings accumulate to great savings. I'm not speaking specifically for this example, just in general.

The point of this thread was to see who actually does it. Personally I only did it twice after reading it. I'm not trying to preach to the forum that everyone should do it. I don't get why people over analyze a post. There's no lines to read between. I found that when I get to big hills. I park my car...............don't forget to not put in park though, won't move well, plus saves gas, then I push it just enough to where it starts to go down the hill. I usually get half way up the other side and have to hit the brakes so I don't roll back, then have no choice to put in park,,,,,,,,,,,,but car is already off anyway, so I am good there. If I get a bunch of hills it is a good day, but for long flat roads dont work well.

I have saved .01 of a mil of gas doing this per day........BIG SAVINGS!

Caution, don't forget to get in your car while going down the hill. Made the mistake once and crunched half my front end into a telephone pole. Really made me think if the .01 per day was worth it.

I have to laugh at this douche he is asking a gay question about saving a little bit of gas so he can save the planet. Well I have a bit of info for YA! Hybrids when they are manufactured produce more pollution than my Honda civic. Heres why they they get the nickle from mines in Canada than that's shipped to Europe i think than on to china than to Japan were its installed in the car than shipped to America. So even before they get to the car lots they have put the equivalent of 4 years of driving my honda civic.
