turning a vented box into a sealed box

I have an extra vented box but its too boomy and I would preffer having the tight bass sound of a sealed box. Would sealing the vent with foam sealent be a good idea ? It's suppose to be airtight and waterproof

Screw and wood glue a piece of MDF over the port...you'll have an oversized sealed box, so perhaps adding blocks of wood inside the enclosure will help you by reducing overall airspace. Or leave it as is if it models up nicely as a low-Qtc enclosure.
