Ok, So I turned my amp all the way up, and started using the test tones to tune my system.

I started at 100hz cuz thats where my HPF is set at. I was at 130 hz and I turned it up to volume setting 47 of 62 (way too loud anyways) and I heard a static noise. I shat myself so I backed it off. I immediately checked all the speakers (at a lower volume setting) and everything seemed fine.Is this static my 'clipping' area? i want to make sure before I proceed forthward with destroyi...err tuning my system.

Also, this is my first time pushing the speakers, am I supposed to smell a warm plastic/new plastic smell?

Thanks for the help.

Well, cause someone on here said it would be fine as long as I make sure to figure out where clipping occurs...etc. etc.

I'm using 10 hz - 900hz test tones that Jmac has provided a link to.

So after messing with it I figured this out.

1. I can't seem to make my HU create a 'clipping' sensation even up to full volume UNAMPED. Best I can say is that it stops increasing volume at volume 58 of 62.

2. With amp all the way up, and equalizer set to POWERFUL, my test tones start making a different 'tone' at about volume 40 0f 62 on both rear set and front set, through all of the frequencies, give or take 2 volume settings. On FLAT its about 46.

Am I looking for the severe static noise, or just the differnece in tone between 2 volume setting (i.e. volume 40 sounds fine, but volume 41 makes an added tone?)
