Tuning hertz components/ running half active

Ok so i have a sundown 150.4 amp powering some hertz speakers.

WoofersEtc.com - ESK-165.5 - Hertz 6.5" 300W Peak 2-Way Component Speaker System

Now everything sounds alright but i cant help but think it could sound better as well as i feel like im missing vocals in my songs. Alot of the vocals in songs just seem quieter than the rest of the actual music going on. So idk what im missing.

Im gonna rewire the speakers only and let the tweeters stay on the passive crossover.

So my issue is. What kind of signal frequency should i be sending? The passive crossover is going to give a different slope than my midrange speaker is getting. and..im just lost all around.

Hertz uses a cone design that they claim aids in off axis response, but you could still have a dip in the 2 kHz - 3 kHz region because of beaming. However, I wouldn't automatically pin that on uneven vocals because it should be able to sound pretty good. What you suggested about running the woofers separately from the crossovers is not going to fix this. What radio are you using?
