Tuning help on New amp install

Just hooked up my 2 10W3 V2s in a ported box to my Hifonics 1000w amp. Amp does have bass boost. I messed with the settings a bit just to get the subs to a playable standpoint but i have no idea what im doing lol. The subs bang hard but the bass boost remote is turned 3/4 of the way. Everything ive read, everyone puts BB down. I was just wondering what exactly do i have to tweak so the bass is louder without having the bass boost turned up to little or none at all....
