tuning frequency question

why do we tune our ported boxes?? Do you tune it to a sub specification or personal liking. I see sommon frequencies are between 30 an 50 w/. some lower in the mid 20's. what are the reasons for these different types of tuning and is there one that are certain type of music sound sbest with the sub tuned too,.

you tune the enclosure in coordination with the enclosure volume to get a desirable frequency response out of the sub.

there is allot of info on this site about the why the how the buts.

so use the search engine on this site or Google it.
