tuner signal strength

I have a '94 Wrangler and am thinking about switching from a Disc changer (skips too much) to a head unit and I could use your advice. Two questions:

1) Is there a CD H/U that can take the bumps and vibrations without skipping?

2) The tuner strength is the other important factor for me. It seems that the strongest radio signals come in the factory model. Which H/U has the strongest AM/FM signal?

Thanks for your help.

Alpine, (most) Eclipses, Clarion, Pioneer .. and most higher decks dont skip easily usually.

As far as radio reception...look for a deck with a LOWER FM Mono sensitivity. The lower the number is, the better it will pick up weaker stations. Alpine and Kenwood are around 9.3, Pioneer and Clarion is about 9, but dont set your heart on the lowest one you find...The signal to noise ratio factors overall sound.
