Hey everybody. I've been reading this forum for the last couple of hours and finally decided to jump on in here.
I need a little help tuning my amp. Let me tell you what I've got.
-Alpine Mrp-f300
-1 10" Kenwood KFC-W2511
-small sealed box. not sure the size. Guessing .75 cf
I know it's all entry level stuff, but it's what I have for now. I plan on getting bigger and better when I do my car (this is in my wifes car which is a '03 toyota highlander).
Anyway, the kenwood says the frequency response is between 30- 1000hz and the amp crossover frequency is 50- 400hz. And again I know, I'm not exactly matching the best equipment, this being a 4 channel amp only powering a subwoofer. I also know that I am only pushing 150 watts (maybe even only 75) out of the amp, but eventually this amp will power my 4 speakers.
I have done quite a bit of research on car audio latley, even though I am very new to it, I feel like I have a decent grasp on it. But this is one thing that I have been scratching my head about for a while now. I can figure out the gain myself, but the frequency is killing me. I messed with it a little tonight but not much. I tried turning it way down and there was very little bass. I think I have it at around 250 hz. Oh and last thing, I do listen to a lot of bass hungry music.
Very last thing, when I build a new box will that change what I should set the frequency at?
Thanks in advance for the help and I can't wait to contribute to this community.
