trying to understand

just now getting around to installing my pioneer 80 prs that I got for Christmas last year.ive been searching and reading on the network vs standard mode. correct me if I'm wrong ,but network is for active only?what if I have component speakers with external passive crossovers? I understand network to be a better sound option? what do I need to change if anything to use the network mode? my set up will be a 5 channel precision power black ice amp, infinity reference components with external crossover for the rear and add on infinity tweets in front dash with a single rockford 12 in the hatch.what is my best option?explain in simple terms the difference in the two modes.

Net work mode means that you can set up (digitally) tweet / mid / low crossover points and send signals of specific boundaries to corresponding amplifiers - drivers (tweeter - mid - woofer). The passive crossovers use electronic components to do this. The pros with active is that you don't loose power in electronics components and can adjust on the fly usually. However, some high end equipment can use components to create the perfect match. You want to use a front , rear, sub. The 80PRS can only do so much. what you want requires a 8 channel processor. MS8, Audison Bit 1, Helix, ect. For now, I would just use the Pioneer in standard mode. (front / rear / sub) If you want highs up front, get another set of infinity comps for up front.

so I would need an additional processor to go active or in network mode? IE'8 channel processor' ? I'm reading what I can online and want to have at least a dim view of what I'm doing before I put it in. Thanks for input. ill continue reading for more info. Also what mode is unit in when doing the microphone automatic set up? this thing has so much my head is swimming.

If you want to use a front 2 way set up ( tweeter and midrange ) and rear 2way setup ( tweeter and midrange ) and sub. You would need to do the front

( tweeter and midrange ) active which would be 4 channels used on an 8 channel processor. Then you would use 2 more channels off the 8 channel processor to get a rear fill full range signal to a pair of coaxials or two way components utilizing their passive crossovers. and the sub would be channels 7 and / or 8. You would want to have amplifiers capable of your needs. I would do a pair of four channel amps at about 75 watts RMS per channel and a sub amp to match your subs needs.

Many people don't even bother with rear speakers if they go active because they do 3way active plus sub. which would be a tweeter, midrange, midbass and sub.

The mic on the 80prs works in either mode.

If I was you, I would do what I stated above.

I'm not going to be satisfied until I experiment with all the options this hu offers.what about this....If I remove the passive crossover from my components couldn't I go active then? It would be a 2 way obviously mid hi and subwoofer. Do I take a chance ruining them trying to set the correct settings? Would I do the auto tuning thing first with mic then tweak from there?another question I have is if I have separate tweeters with inline capacitors Installed to block bass would the capacitors have to be removed to go active? I appreciate your time.
