Trying to get ideas for HA setup, Help please..

I wish I would have done that, as there are sooo many choices and price ranges to choose from. For strictly audio (music listening) this trip will be very beneficial for me as I will be able to get more of an idea as to what's out there. You should. There is soo much out there as far as audio (HT and music) The box stores are a needle in the haystack when it comes to components and speakers. Being fairly new to the world of audio, research is what will ultimately be the key to my system. This is the reason why I have decided to go there and check things out. I will be able to sit down and listen to any setup and make the determination for myself weather I like it or not. Everyone's ear is different and we all hear things differently. Too many variables in audio to pin-point your needs. THerefore, only you can decide what sounds good to you. We can give you plenty of advice and direction but it will ultimately be up to you what the final outcome is.

thats true in many things i suppose, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or listener in this case)

Might not be able to go up there, but i have some time before i plan on getting everything (house poor FTL) but thats why i wanted to start looking at things now, so when i am able to start purchasing ill know what things i should make sure i hear and look at, then go from there. I may just start going through the pages of this section on the forum and looking at everyone elses setups, write some down, etc. Im sure there are HT forums out there, anybody know of some good ones i should check out? Research is one thing i always do, ive never been an "impulse buyer" unless it was something for a REALLY good deal, and even then i have to make sure its a good deal.

Well....

The cheapest way is to get get a Car Audio subwoofer and put it in a box with a plate amplifier.

Most PreMade subwoofers that are worth anything are going to be greater than you entire budget...

I find it hard to recommend on this. Because, if I was you (which I'm not), I would sink most of my money into my mains and center. Forget about the surrounds, and get the subwoofer when I had the money. But that is just me.

Some good types of subs... Sound Splinter, TC, Fi Q, MAW, And the Dayton subwoofer.

Mmmm....Fi Q...wasnt sure how good it would be in HT, but thats what i would love to go with, had to sell mine before to get this house, but id really like to get another. Maybe an 18 this time?? lol, im a pretty big basshead, so the sub is my biggest concern.

So your saying just worry about the main 2 fronts and a center channel? Maybe i could just add some cheap left and right surrounds later on? I just think its cool when in a movie, someone is supposed to be talking "behind" you and they actually are. Adds a new perspective to movies IMO.

I am more of a stereo purist nowadays...

The things from behind you is cool, but for how much they get used don't make them a BIG part of your budget...

For a budget woofer, get one of the MAW 15's from the SSA Shop and pick up a plate amp and you should be pleased.

In a ~2.2ft^3 sealed box it fills my basement nicely, I have to guess its about 3,000 sq ft too, I'm not going to say its overkill but it does its job well and I can't complain from a driver of that price.
