Trying to Build my first audio system.

I am new to the world of car audio and have been looking for speakers for my truck but am completely overwhelmed. Does anyone have some advice for speakers for a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Ext Cab pickup truck? Not sure what this truck comes with stock, I believe I have rear speakers behind my rear seat, and I have two cutouts on each door I believe contain a 6x9 and 6 inch sub, not sure though. any feedback on speakers in truck already and aftermarket configuration would be of great help.
