since you dont want to do a secure loan, try getting a store credit card for best buy or any other store and put like $50 on it a month. make the payments but dont pay it off too fast, paying off debt too quickly can make your score dip down. I know it doesnt make much sense but credit is something made over time, months and months or even years so paying off a huge debt to a bank might take some stress off ur shoulders but it wont help ur credit. ( i found this out AFTER my mother decided to surprise me and pay off my credit card all at once, my credit dropped like 20 points from her doing this, it would have prolly gone up 20 points if it had been slowly paid off) I'm a fan of the cash only system but sadly in these times we have to use the plastic on occasion. best of luck, and worse comes to worse go to a bank and just talk with a rep about credit.
Note to everyone else: just because you dont have a "job" doesnt mean you are not making money, i have a buddy who makes well over 100k a year and doesnt recieve a single paycheck from a company.
