Trunk wall?

So, a walled trunk is just your box pushed all the way up against the back seats , as far as they will anyway, and sealing it off from the rest of the trunk? pushing all air into the cabin giving it a hatchback effect?

correct. some walls can be further back. but most need to be as far up as they can

I've heard that if your box is louder rear firing, you will put up better numbers firing forward sealed. If your box is louder forward firing unsealed than rear firing unsealed, then you will lose by sealing firing forward.

FWIW, I got my best numbers at my lowest tune and the best experience from a sub stage when I did subs and port forward and sealing the trunk off. I will never fire into a trunk again. The only real way to know what will meet your goals is to build and test. I gained 3+db even after dropping my tuning to 28Hz after forward firing and sealing the trunk off.

I agree 100%. It seemed to smooth out a nasty dip I had and was much easier to blend with my front stage. I wasn't chasing numbers though. I never did get to try another enclosure with a higher tune to see what it could do. I was just too happy to change it.

im at 32 and i had to counteract the low tuning with a smaller box and larger port so i could still at lease halfway have my peak in the 40s but it seemed i dont //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif oh well

If you are happy with the way it sounds and it meets your needs for output, no need to do anything. Even the best laid plans act totally different once you get everything installed and playing. Why were you shooting for 40's? Output?
