Trunk wall?

Shits tough, NESPL yeah? it ***** that they must go by amp rating then, MWSPL you can have an 8k amp but have it clamped during your run to make sure you don't go over say 3k.
actually its MECA they go by fusing x10 and cone area OR max power divided by 2 and cone area. nspl is my fool around org :p

Lame I hate restrictions like that;

MWSPL has more of a "real time/daily" metering style afaik, you can play Sealed up, or (like a normal demo on a normal day) have your windows/doors open which I like because I meter louder with my driver and passenger windows open.

nspl trunk hardcore is in the kick door open 0-1800 goes by clamped power sealed. i did a 142 or some crap. i hated my last box lol new one is good. still not enough port for sealed. my car acts weird sealed period.

/Agreed

Didn't some guy do like 161.x or 160.1 out the trunk in nspl recently

terry brocks. he did a 56xx on 2 12 inch xfl's lol... he is a beast. i wont even try to understand how he does it
Anton is close, he's pushing 152ish[i think at one point did a 52 manned/AND sealed in the cavi. (still far from 160 but he's got vision and drive to do what he needs to do and tests the **** out of everything)

my trunk wall:

two layers 3/4" MDF with 1/4-20 T-nuts inset

secured/sealed with silicone, fiberglass, and bondo

carpet for aesthetics

baffle wall - 3/4" MDF coated in resin with T-nuts (higher power would have yielded two layers)

foam seals

the trunk undulations didn't allow for a good seal - so i made a rectangular opening. the baffle wall is removable so i can experiment with different subs. the same concept could be applied to a box that had a flange to bolt up.

rear deck is sealed with over 5 layers of deadener (some top, some bottom). I will eventually make a new 3/4" MDF top that increases rigidity further.

thanks. it's just time, some experimentation, more time, a little bit of money, more experimentation, and more time.
you need to come over here one day. we could do the ultimate legit IB setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

"legit IB" is a misnomer. "IB" doesn't exist in any vehicle.

"TB" or trunk baffle is more apt.

the time required restricts them to DIY. the Scion tC build is the most time i have ever put into a car that wasn't mine. my wife was not thrilled. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the new SPL build i'm doing will likely be the second larges time commitment for someone else. but we've been friends since 1989.

there is a true IB setup. we discussed it once before if you remember //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ah yes.

i think if you had a van and left the rear open, that would count.

i will likely add venting to the trunk, and also add some absorption to the trunk lid to absorb some bass in the trunk (to reduce cancellation through the woofer cones). that is the biggest issue with IB in a car - the woofer cone is the path for rear wave reflections.

So, a walled trunk is just your box pushed all the way up against the back seats , as far as they will anyway, and sealing it off from the rest of the trunk? pushing all air into the cabin giving it a hatchback effect?

I've heard that if your box is louder rear firing, you will put up better numbers firing forward sealed. If your box is louder forward firing unsealed than rear firing unsealed, then you will lose by sealing firing forward.
