I don't know what you call this, I know it's not actually a "trunk wall" lol.

Anyways, as you can see it essentially just seals the subs from the rest of the trunk. Seems like a really good idea, what do you guys think of this? I've never seen it until now (maybe i'm missing something, I dont' usually stray far beyond regular sub back/port back rectangular boxes :p).

I was planning on simply doing another 4cube box for my next box, but looking at mlstrass's build that looks easy enough to do. Any idea on how it might sound (besides obviously trying it out for myself)? Looks like I might have problems if I have passengers though and need the seats up...Doesnt' look like the port would have much breathing room.

Thanks!

Yeah, I did pm him already.

I'm kind of just curious as to why I haven't seen this done before- it seems so simple to build and looks like it'll eliminate alot of the problems of a trunk car.

some cars are loud firing forward an most are not it just depends on what the owner wants in this case you. i know a guy over in usaci org that has a jetta with 4 10's doing mid 50's on a burp an prolly low on music. an his box is subs up port back. so i mean it just takes time.

but i just started doing my box firing forward an its louder by ear to me.

Heres the box I just finished for my Son's car. We just finished sealing off the box around the top and sides with rigid closed cell foam. Still need to close off the old speaker holes in the rear deck. Sealing it off stopped all the trunk rattles. Haven't had it metered yet so no idea what the numbers are.

The only audible noise from the car now is the buzzing from the rear view mirror.

It gets pretty loud for 1200 watts, still want to get a new sub sometime soon so we can get the most out of the amp. Still have another 1000 watts waiting to be used, just need something D1 or D4.

The box is 4 cubes and if he has a passenger in the rear just leaves one seat down. 2 passengers, just takes it easy on the bass until he drops em off.

Wow thanks for all these pictures! Some of them look really nice...trying to figure out what exactly i'm going to do based on these.

For those that have done it- How exactly does it perform? What I really want to know- how much difference is there between say having your box simply facing forward vs. having it sealed to the cabin?

Without it sealed around the sides the trunk rattled, with it sealed no rattles. I couldn't tell a difference between sealed / not sealed as far as how it performs. It just pounds the hell out of the car. Sounds great too. Tuned it to 38-40 hz but still gets plenty low.

I was about to say that looked very familiar....... Heard that setup a few times. Now he's doubled the power and subs.

I'd PM him. He's pretty active on here. He can tell you better than anyone about it.
