trunk is breaking on my civic (pics)

the thin *** metal where my trunk lid attatches to the two bars has almost completely seperated from the lid. It is holding on by about a quarter of an inch so I got a guy to weld it back on then weld some metal plates over them. I really hope this works. Honda used some extremely thin metal on that part of the trunk lid. he said it was really hard to weld it without just putting holes in it. anyways take a look at pics and does anyone else with civics or hondas for that matter have this problem?

wow...those welds arent going to hold very long,most of it is tack welded,you need a solid bead all the way around to even begin to hold it.

ya I don't want to my trunk to be like that. I think I will try the bed liner (the good kind). He said he was having trouble welding it he had it on the lowest setting and was trying not to go through the metal. It is very thin like I can bend it with my finger.
